As frequently happens, the situation came to me during my morning constitutional.
Do you prefer writing short fiction over novels, and if so, why?
No, not at all. Short fiction is like being trapped in a closet while trying to open a beach umbrella. Short fiction doesn’t leave room for expansion of an idea. You have to get with it and stay on point. That said, some stories have nothing more to say after a few thousand words.
